The Turquoise Treasure Cover Nominated for Award
The cover for The Turquoise Treasure has been nominated for an award. I’m so excited because this particular cover required a lot of effort to make it look exactly the way I wanted. Turns out that turquoise is very difficult to photograph. Unlike faceted gemstones like rubies, sapphires and emeralds, turquoise doesn’t reflect light. I had to teach myself some special tricks before the photograph showed the gemstone’s natural beauty.

I did not realize that you did the photography yourself! You are way more talented than just as a writer. That is an absolutely beautiful piece of turquoise and beautiful picture.
Thank you, Dorie! Yes, I try to take my own photography. I purchased the rights to the photo I used on The Blue Diamond, then messed around with it until I was happy with the result, doing things like inserting the poodle and woman into the gemstone as an inclusion and figuring out where to position book title and things. After that, I decided to try my hand at starting from scratch. It’s been fun because it uses a different set of creativity muscles from writing — and I can see the result much faster!
